Children have also been writing poems using their knowledge of life in the trenches.  There has been some great learning taking place, using expanded noun phrases; writing Kenning poems - poems which have 2 words per line, and act as clues leading you to a final answer.  Acrostic poems were written in Year 1 about poppies which gave the children the chance to expand their vocabulary linked to remembrance.
