The Enormous Turnip in Nursery Class
Children in Nursery have been reading the book The Enormous Turnip. As part of our weekly PEEP group, Parents and children made soup just as they do in the story!
The children had the chance to peel and chop vegetables, developing their physical skills involving different tools..
The soup they made was full of different vegetables, helping the children learn about healthy choices about food. Freddie and his mum were looking forward to eating what they made today!
The children have been developing their communication and literacy skills by talking about the book and acting out the story. Parents and teaching staff read the instructions for the soup to the children. Why not have a go at making the soup using the recipe below?
What a lovely surprise - our Aspens chef Becki make some dough for bread rolls for the soup. Every child got to knead their own bread roll before they were baked which they took home with a portion of the soup.
