TEACHING ASSISTANT - SEMH

Fixed term until 31st August 2022, part-time (32.5 hours per week) 8.30am – 3.30pm (Monday to Friday), term time only to start as soon as possible.

Venturers Trust is an emerging Multi Academy Trust based in Bristol formed through the merger of CGS Trust and Merchants’ Academy Trust in September 2017. Comprising Primary, Secondary, all-age schools and a Special school the Trust has 3,200 pupils and 700 staff.

We are looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant with experience of working with children with Social Emotional Mental Health needs. The successful candidate will have to be able to think and deliver high quality support using their own initiative when working on a 1:1 basis as well as having time as part of a class team. You need to be able to create resources and adapt materials with the pupil’s interests in mind so pupils will be engaged in learning plans suggested by the Class Teacher, Inclusion Manager and outside agencies. You will be expected to implement suggestions and strategies, monitor the learning plan and be responsive to pupils needs with flexibility, sensitivity and an awareness of the skills needed to effectively support pupils. Experience with Thrive or other social emotional development strategies is desirable.

The successful candidate will have:

• GCSEs at Grade C or above in English and maths (or equivalent qualifications).

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent relevant to a Teaching Assistant role

• Recent and relevant professional development.

• Experience of working effectively supporting children in a learning environment.

• Understanding of principles of child development and learning processes and barriers to learning.
